Faculty approval is required.Ī Co-operative education (Co-op) is an academic program coupled with experiential education attained in partnership between students, employers and an academic institution. The thesis option is typically carried out in the 2nd year of the two-year program. This option is designed for students who have a clearly defined topic, can find a supervisor, and can meet tight deadlines in order to complete all program requirements within the normal time limit. The MI thesis option allows students to gain experience in developing and executing a research project from beginning to end. Part-time students are eligible to use up to 6 years to complete their degree requirements. Full-time students can finish the program in 2 years (with a maximum allowed duration of 3 years). Students are eligible to complete their pathway based on course work only, or incorporate a Collaborative Specialization, thesisor Co-op as part of their degree experience. In the process of completing the 8.0-credits, students might be eligible to request to take up to 1.0-credit of “extra” courses that do not contribute to degree requirements. Once students complete 8.0-credits, they will be marked for graduation and no additional courses can be taken. The MI program requires students to complete 8.0-credits regardless of pathway chosen.
